PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Friday it had signed Curaçao international Jearl Margaritha. The transaction is pending league and federation approval and receipt of his P-1 Visa.
Margaritha joined the professional ranks having spent most his career in his native country, the Netherlands. He signed his first professional contract with VV Hoogeveen in 2019, where he made 13 appearances and scored 11 goals. Margaritha went on to score 20 goals the next two seasons for Almere City and TOP Oss in the second tier of the Dutch football.
"Jearl is a talented player with quick feet who is brave in taking players on," said Rising interim Head Coach Diego Gomez. "He has plenty of goals and assists in him, and we're very excited to have him with the team."
While a native of the Netherlands, Margaritha elected to represent Curaçao at the international level through his family’s heritage. He has made a pair of appearances for the country in its recent FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, logging one assist in 135 minutes. At the club level, Margaritha most recently competed for Sabah FK, a top tier team in the Azerbaijani football league, where he recorded one assist in 19 appearances.
“This is a great experience for me – I’ve already been outside of my home country, but to play in the U.S. is a big new adventure,” said Margaritha. “I’m already attached to this community, and Phoenix Rising is a great organization, so I want to contribute and get results for this club.”
