USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – July

Star performance shone as the pursuit of the playoffs began to heat up, who gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for June, honoring four of the top performers throughout the third month of the 2024 season as they take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, August 5 at 12 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.

  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, August 8.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – July, 2024

Nick Markanich, Charleston Battery – The Golden Boot leader led the Championship with six goals in five appearances, posting a strike rate of a goal every 72 minutes, a conversion rate of 33.3 percent and a Goals Added mark of +2.34, good for second in the Championship.

Wesley Leggett, Loudoun United FC – The 23-year-old recorded three goals and two assists in four appearances, averaging a goal contribution every 56.4 minutes, and posted a shot conversion rate of 37.5 percent and a Goals Added mark of +1.93, tied for third in the league.

Johnny Rodriguez, Oakland Roots SC – The longtime Roots forward recorded four goals and one assist in four appearances, averaging a goal every 87.5 minutes and posting a shot conversion rate of 40 percent.

Johan Peñaranda, FC Tulsa – The newcomer allowed only one goal in four appearances, earning three shutouts while recording 14 saves at a save percentage of 93.3 percent and a goals prevented mark of -4.22 over the month.
