The great soccer philosopher Andre Carlisle once implored us: “Go To Games.”
Moments like Nate Worth’s first goal for the Tampa Bay Rowdies is why that will always be true.
Heck, you could make an example of the entire contest between the Rowdies and Charleston Battery on Saturday night which contained multiple exceptional goals, a thrilling comeback and numerous twists and turns throughout the night at Al Lang Stadium.
But Worth’s goal stood head and shoulders above it all.

Look at that. It’s basically perfect. Tie game, three minutes to go, the free kick on the edge of the penalty area with a chance to put your team ahead, and you pull that out of your hat?
Mercy.
The online reaction in the aftermath was predictably euphoric. Even Battery fans who were hoping to see their side take something away from the game couldn’t help but appreciate it.
It’s one thing to watch it on a screen, as I had to – I’ve been suffering a stinking cold the last couple of days and wasn’t up to going to the game as planned – but there’s something about seeing a goal like that live.
For all 5,705 fans who were on hand Saturday night, including the ones going to a game for the first time, that’s a memory they’ll carry with them for a very long time.
It was also a reminder to every soccer fan – Go To Games. It always hits different live.
