New Mexico United midfielder Zico Bailey has been selected in the Philippine Men's National Football Team squad for FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifying in June as the side faces Indonesia and Vietnam in its final two games of the second stage of qualifying.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently in his first full season with New Mexico having joined United midway through the 2023 campaign. Bailey has scored two goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for United this season, with both tallies coming in the side’s 4-2 victory against Real Salt Lake in the Round of 32 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup earlier this month.

Bailey has also recorded 14 interceptions, 60 recoveries and won nine tackles in 10 USL Championship appearances this season while posting an 85.2 percent passing accuracy rate and four chances created. Should Bailey appear in either contest, it would mark his senior national team debut having previously competed for the United States at the U-15 level.

The Philippines needs to sweep its two remaining contests to have a chance at advancing to the next stage of World Cup Qualifying, with the side currently sitting on one point from four contests, six points behind second-placed Indonesia. Nicknamed the Azkals, the side will visit Vietnam on Thursday, June 6 before visiting Indonesia on Tuesday, June 11.
