The road to the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the Western Bracket could go through Sacramento Republic FC’s Heart Health Park.

The 2022 Open Cup Finalists were handed a home draw in the Quarterfinals of this year’s against Seattle Sounders FC on either July 9 or 10, and the opportunity to host the Semifinal should they advance, as the draw for the final eight teams standing in this year’s tournament was held on Wednesday night.

Republic FC earned a thrilling 4-3 victory after extra time against the San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday night to reach the Quarterfinals for the second time in the past three seasons as goals by Luis Felipe Fernandes and Sebastian Herrera overturned a deficit in extra time at Heart Health Park. Now Sacramento will host the Sounders – who rallied to defeat Phoenix Rising FC 2-1 on Wednesday night – at the venue where it took victory when the sides met in the 2018 edition of the tournament.

Fellow two-time Quarterfinalists New Mexico United will head on the road for a second consecutive round as it squares off with Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer in the other Quarterfinal in the Western bracket, and with an upset of the former MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield winner could set up an all-USL Championship Semifinal.

Indy Eleven, meanwhile, will face a long road to reach the Final after being drawn away to Atlanta United FC following its victory on Wednesday night against Detroit City FC in the lone all-Championship tie of the Round of 16. Should the Boys in Blue advance, they would head to face either Sporting Kansas City or FC Dallas in the Semifinals with four-time Open Cup title winner SKC set to host the only all-MLS tie of the round.
