OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Sunday night it had parted ways with Head Coach Noah Delgado. Assistant Coach Gavin Glinton will lead the team as Interim Head Coach as a permanent appointment is sought for the position.

Delgado had been part of the Roots organization since 2021 and was promoted to Head Coach in 2022 following the departure of Juan Guerra from the club. During his tenure, Delgado led Oakland to the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs where the side advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals before being eliminated by eventual title-winner San Antonio FC.

So far this season, Oakland has recorded a 2-5-1 record and currently sits in ninth place in the USL Championship’s Western Conference. In his overall tenure, Delgado was 19-23-11 across the Championship’s regular season and playoffs.

Appointed as interim Head Coach, Glinton brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. A native of Turks and Caicos, the 45-year-old previously made 67 appearances in Major League Soccer, competing for the San Jose Earthquakes, FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy, with whom he won MLS Cup and the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2002.

Glinton has served as an assistant coach with Roots since September, 2022, while also having previously been part of the Sacramento Republic FC Academy coaching staff.
