20-year-old is vying for promotion to top flight with FC Dordrecht as playoffs approach next month

USL Championship export Korede Osundina bagged his second goal in as many games for FC Dordrecht in Holland’s Eerste Divisie on Friday night as the side continued its drive toward potential promotion into the top flight in the Netherlands with three games to go in the regular season.

Brought on as a second-half substitute, the former Orange County SC forward sealed a 3-1 victory for Dordrecht against TOP Oss at M-Scores Stadion to continue what has been a productive first campaign in Europe after his transfer to Feyenood from OCSC last summer.

“It always feels great to put the ball in the back of the net,” Osundina said in a postgame interview. “Especially in front of the home crowd, there’s not many better feelings than this one.”

The 20-year-old joined Dordrecht on loan from Feyenoord early in the campaign and has earned chances to start as well as providing a boost off the bench. He now has four goals and three assists in 877 minutes of action, part of a Dordrecht attack that ranks second in the league with 69 goals in 35 games while sitting in fourth place in the Eerste Divisie standings.

“I’ve been feeling good in these last few weeks,” said Osundina. “The team spirit has also been really good especially after achieving the playoffs, which was one of our main goals this season – if not one of our biggest goals next to promotion. I just think as a team we’ve been very good, very strong together, and we’ll take another three points next week hopefully.”

Dordrecht is currently five points out of second place in the standings, which would earn automatic promotion, putting that goal still within reach as the side tries to build on a four-game winning streak this weekend.
