So, that’s two of the slots for the USL Championship’s Goal of the Year taken care of, huh?
The Charleston Battery’s Juan David Torres got us started on Saturday evening with a sumptuous strike from inside the center circle from 50 yards out that landed perfectly in the back of the net – and on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 – as part of his side’s 4-1 victory at ONEOK Field.
A strike!

Juan David Torres surely tallies a Goal of the Week nominee for the @Chas_Battery! pic.twitter.com/zpHCia4J4g
Not two hours later, El Paso Locomotive FC’s Javier Nevárez went from even further distance inside his own half on the right to send his side into the lead in what would end up a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium. (Somehow, its RSVP to the #SCTop10 was sent, but got lost in the internet.)
THAT. IS. STUNNING.
