Miami FC acquires Roberto Molina, Danny Barbir via transfer from Indy Eleven

MIAMI – Miami FC announced on Thursday the club had acquired defender Daniel Barbir and midfielder Roberto Molina via transfer from fellow USL Championship club Indy Eleven. In a corresponding transactioni, Miami announced the transfer of defender Benjamin Ofeimu and midfielder Benjamin Mines to Indy Eleven.

The transactions are pending league and federation approval, and Barbir will not be available for Miami’s contest on Thursday night against in-state rival the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Barbir joins Miami having made more than 100 appearances in the USL Championship during his career. The 26-year-old center back signed with Indy this past offseason having previously competed for Oakland Roots SC for two seasons and previously for Sporting Kansas City II.

A former regular at the youth international level, Barbir was a member of the United States U-17 Men’s National Team that competed at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Molina comes to Miami having made 62 appearances in the USL Championship appearances at Indy and previously Las Vegas Lights FC. Molina recorded three goals and one assist for Indy a season ago in 17 appearances, and has notched six goals and six assists in the Championship in his career.

The 23-year-old has also competed for El Salvador at the senior international level, making six appearances for La Seleca across Concacaf Nations League play and international play.
