Memphis 901 FC forward Nighte Pickering has been selected in the United States U-19 Men’s National Team squad that will travel to Morrocco for a pair of games against England on Sunday, March 24 and Morocco on Tuesday, March 26 under the leadership of Head Coach Michael Nsien.

Pickering joins the squad having made a strong start to the new USL Championship season. The 19-year-old scored the game-winning goal in 901 FC’s season-opening victory against Las Vegas Lights FC in spectacular fashion, firing a dipping shot from 25 yards to lift the side to a 2-1 victory at AutoZone Park, claiming Championship Goal of the Week honors in the process.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Pickering joined Memphis midway through the 2022 season from FC Dallas’ Academy. Since then, he has recorded 39 appearances in the USL Championship’s regular season and playoffs, logging seven goals and four assists in 1,267 minutes of action, a strike rate of a goal every 181 minutes.

Also named in the squad are two former Oakland Roots SC players with defender Drew Murray and midfielder Ethan Kohler each having represented the side a season ago before moving to Bundesliga clubs in Germany. Murray is now with Freiburg and Kohler with Werder Bremen.

Pickering and Memphis 901 FC are set to play host to Indy Eleven on Saturday afternoon at AutoZone Park with kickoff set for 4 p.m. ET. The game will be aired live on ESPN+.
