Four brilliant stops from the opening weekend of the season, which one gets your vote?

The opening week of action in the USL Championship delivered some outstanding goalkeeping performances and saves as the new campaign swung into action, including two of the league’s all-time shutout leaders in Birmingham Legion FC’s Matt VanOekel and New Mexico United’s Alex Tambakis adding to their tallies to lead their sides to victories. We’ve picked out four of the best denials of the past week, now you get to select which one will be the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week presented by Terminix.

USL Championship Save of the Week – Week 1

Jahmali Waite (ELP) - #ELPvHFD, 3/9/24: The Jamaican international went at full stretch to make a big stop on Hartford Athletic’s Michee Ngalina effort to the top-right corner at Southwest University Park.

Matt VanOekel (BHM) - #PHXvBHM, 3/9/24: The veteran posted an eight-save shutout to earn Team of the Week honors, including this reaction save to keep out Phoenix Rising FC’s Edgardo Rito from the right side of the penalty area.

Pablo Sisniega (SA) - #SAvLDN, 3/9/24: The Mexican shot-stopper reacted quickly to come off his line and smother a one-on-one opportunity for Loudoun United FC’s Drew Skundrich in second-half stoppage time at Toyota Field.

Paul Blanchette (OAK) - #OAKvIND, 3/9/24: Last year’s saves leader lived up to his “Paul the Wall” nickname once again with a diving save to keep out a free kick by Indy Eleven’s Jack Blake that was headed to the left corner of the net.
