EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Wednesday the club had acquired midfielder Jeremy Garay on loan from D.C. United of Major League Soccer for the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Garay is a product of the D.C. United Academy and was the 16th Homegrown Signing in the club’s history. The 20-year-old made his debut for D.C. in the 2022 season in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Additionally, Garay has competed on loan with the USL Championship’s Loudoun United FC, making 93 appearances in the Championship and three in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the club since making his professional debut in 2019 as a 16-year-old. In 6,345 minutes of play in the USL Championship, Garay has one goal and five assists.

“We are happy to add Jeremy to our roster and welcome him to El Paso,” said Locomotive Head Coach and Technical Director Brian Clarhaut. “He can play anywhere in the midfield but will be used primarily as a defensive midfield player in our system. He is a smart, tactically proficient player with a strong passing range and brings some good elements to our team.”

Garay made his El Salvador Men’s National Team debut as an 18-year-old in a friendly against Costa Rica in 2021 and has trained alongside current Locomotive players Eric Calvillo and Joaquin Rivas while on national team duty. Garay has also appeared for the El Salvador U-20s and the United States U-20s, where he played alongside former Locomotive star Diego Luna.

"I’m excited for a new challenge to be able to grow as a player and person due to the winning culture of El Paso,” Garay said. “I’m hoping to add to that culture that’s been established on and off the field and eventually win a championship.”
