LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Friday the club had signed local talent Jansen Wilson ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Wilson was previously the 2017-2018 Gatorade Kentucky Boys Soccer Player of the Year while competing at Elizabethtown High School, where he recorded 50 goals and 55 assists. The midfielder joined Major League Soccer member Columbus Crew SC's academy as a high school senior before going on to play collegiately at the University of Kentucky and Belmont University.

The Elizabethtown, Kentucky, native also trained with LouCity’s pros the last two summers before earning his first professional contract out of a recent preseason trial.

“We are excited to officially welcome Jansen to the group," said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. "We have been able to evaluate him over a lengthy period of time, and he has continued to impress. Jansen's versatility, pace and character are all attributes that made signing him an easy decision for us. This is just the beginning for him, and we are looking forward to watching his continued progression.”

Following his impressive youth career, Wilson went on to play three seasons at Kentucky, scoring four goals to go with two assists in 41 appearances as Wildcat. He transferred after his junior year, spending his last two seasons of eligibility at Belmont, where he registered 11 assists and six goals in 36 appearances.

“I am extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to play for such an amazing club and fanbase,” said Wilson. “The players and staff at Louisville City are among some of the best. I can’t wait to represent the state that I’m from while wearing purple. I'm looking forward to getting started this season!”
