MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC announced on Friday the club had signed goalkeeper Taylor Bailey ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Bailey joins Memphis having most recently competed for Oakland Roots SC, where he served as backup to Paul Blanchette in the 2023 season. A native of Greenville, Tenn., Bailey has made seven appearances overall in the Championship, recording 17 saves, three shutouts and a goals-against average of 1.23.
The 26-year-old played collegiately at Nova Southeastern University before joining Oakland Roots SC in 2020. While with Oakland, Bailey also played on loan at USL League One club Forward Madison FC and in the Championship for San Diego Loyal SC. In addition to his league career, Bailey has also made three appearances in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
“Taylor is a quality young goalkeeper with a lot of upside,” said Memphis Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell. “He is a very good shot stopper and is very good with his feet. We look forward to Taylor competing with Tyler and Aren this season in what will be a strong group of goalkeepers.”
Bailey joins veteran Tyler Deric and second-year keeper Aren Seeger in the stable of Beale Street Boy shot stoppers.
