SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Tuesday the club had signed defender Kendall Burks ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval and per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Burks joins SAFC after spending the past two seasons with Chicago Fire FC of Major League Soccer. The defender split time between the club’s First Team and reserve side Chicago Fire FC II of MLS Next Pro sides, logging 17 MLS appearances and 26 MLSNP appearances.

This past campaign, he registered 637 minutes for the Fire and recorded his first professional brace in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contest. Prior to signing with the Fire, the 24-year-old went on trial with then-EFL Championship member Nottingham Forest and made one start for the U21 team.

We anticipate his contribution to the team's pursuit of championships.”

Before turning pro, Burks starred at the University of Washington, earning back-to-back All-Pac-12 Second Team honors. During his time with the Huskies, he tallied five goals and three assists in 38 matches while helping the team reach the 2021 NCAA College Cup Final. Burks’ collegiate career began at California State University, Bakersfield, where he appeared in 37 matches, playing every minute of his freshman campaign and being named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Freshman team.
