IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Thursday the club had acquired 17-year-old goalkeeper Duran Ferree on loan from San Diego FC of Major League Soccer for the 2024 USL Championship Season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval and per club policy, details of the loan agreement will not be released.

A native of San Diego, Ferree spent the first two seasons of his professional career with San Diego Loyal SC in the USL Championship. He made his professional debut on October 9, 2022 against New Mexico United, where he recorded two saves in a 3-3 draw. He appeared four times for San Diego in 2023, recording two clean sheets, and became the youngest goalkeeper to record a shutout in the Championship’s history aged 16 years, 6 months, 27 days old against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

“This is a very exciting time in my professional career,” said Ferree. “To be on loan with Orange County SC during the 2024 season not only allows me to train and play at a high level, it also places me in a league environment where I have familiarity and will allow me to flourish. The proximity to San Diego is an added bonus and I look forward to continuing to play in front of Southern California fans.”

Ferree has also received multiple call-ups to the United States Youth National Teams in his young career. He was first called into a U-17 January Training Camp in 2023, before being added to the 2023 CONCACAF U-17 Championship roster in February. There, he made four starts and posted two clean sheets as he helped lead the USYNT to a second-place finish. He also was named to the roster for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia, alongside new OCSC teammate Bryce Jamison, where he appeared in one group stage match against France.

“We are grateful to San Diego FC for the trust they have placed in OCSC to continue Duran’s professional development,” OCSC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Peter Nugent said. “He is a talented young ‘keeper with a bright future ahead of him and we are looking forward to working with him.”
