Loudoun United FC has signed defender Keegan Tingey, who recorded two goals and three assists for San Jose Earthquakes II in the 2023 campaign.

LEESBURG, Va. – Loudoun United FC announced on Wednesday that the club had signed defender Keegan Tingey to a one-year contract with an option for the 2025 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Tingey signed as a Homegrown Player with the San Jose Earthquakes in January, 2023. He made 27 appearances for the Earthquakes II in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season and recorded two goals and three assists.

“Keegan is a versatile defender who we think can be an elite right back in the USL Championship,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “He is extremely composed on the ball and has a great work ethic. We see him as a key piece to our 2024 season.”

Prior to his professional career, Tingey was a four-year starter for Stanford University (2019-2022) and tallied three goals and 16 assists in 66 appearances. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team as a senior in 2022 after recording seven assists, sixth most in the Pac-12 and second most among defenders.

Keegan Tingey makes the move up to the USL Championship with Loudoun United FC having put in a solid first campaign in the professional ranks with the San Jose Earthquakes II, which he helped reach the postseason this past campaign.

A right-sided full back, Tingey graded out among the top eight full backs in MLSNP last season with a +4.83 Goals Added mark per American Soccer Analysis. His arrival would appear to serve as the replacement for Koa Santos, now departed for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Loudoun is hopeful he can level up and help his new side push for its first postseason berth this season.
