MIAMI – Miami FC has announced the signing of defender Nicolás Cardona and midfielder Michael Vang ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transactions are pending league and federation approval.

A 24-year-old center back, Cardona joins Miami after playing the past two seasons for USL League One club Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. With the Red Wolves, Cardona had 54 appearances and scored four goals. Prior to joining the Red Wolves, Cardona played in the USL Championship for Hartford Athletic for the 2021 season, where he made 21 appearances and recorded seven interceptions, 68 recoveries and 46 clearances.

Cardona has also made 15 appearances for the Puerto Rican National Team, including in FIFA World Cup Qualifying and Concacaf Nations League play.

The 23-year-old had previously helped Columbus Crew 2 claim the MLS NEXT Pro title in 2022 after spending two seasons with Forward Madison FC in USL League One at the start of his career.

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Vang recorded four goals and two assists in 24 appearances for the Flamingos over two campaigns, while also making five interceptions and 43 recoveries defensively. Vang has also competed internationally, representing Laos, for which he has made five appearances, including this past October in 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
