MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC will play host to Louisville City FC in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2023 USL Championship Playoffs on Saturday night with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET at AutoZone Park. Here’s what you need to know.

How They Got Here

Memphis 901 FC (14-10-10, 52pts) – Memphis earned its third consecutive postseason berth on the back of one of the most explosive attacks in the USL Championship. Led by midseason acquisition Rodrigo Da Costa, the side scored 59 goals in the regular season and was equally effective whether home or away to earn the No. 4 seed in the postseason, with Aaron Molloy and Jeremy Kelly remaining among the most respected players in the league by their peers. Memphis stumbled down the stretch, though, alternating wins and losses in their last four games, including a 4-1 defeat at New Mexico United to close the season.

Louisville City FC (14-12-8, 50pts) – The defending Eastern Conference title holders had what was by their standards a sub-par campaign. The No. 5 seed the side earned for its ninth consecutive playoff berth is the lowest in LouCity playoff history as its attack failed to click consistently over the year, recording only 41 goals, second fewest of any playoff side. Louisville’s defense had 12 shutouts, but also had some major misfires in losses away to Sacramento Republic FC and Miami FC. The side won only once in its final five games, resulting in its first playoff opener on the road in club history.

All-Time Series

Louisville City FC leads 6-3-2 all-time, but Memphis went 1-0-1 in their meetings this season.

Players to Watch

Memphis 901 FC – Aaron Molloy: The Irish midfielder continues to be a catalyst for Memphis in the middle of the park while leading the team with eight assists with his precise set piece deliveries.

Louisville City FC – Sean Totsch: The three-time Championship All-League selection hasn’t been as consistent as he would have liked this campaign, but is still going to be up for the challenge of securing victory on the road.
