USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – September

Some of the league’s leading scorers lit up the last full month of the regular season, who gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for September, honoring five of the top performers throughout the last full month of the 2023 season as they take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, October 9 at 12 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.

  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, October 12.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – September 2023

Cal Jennings, Tampa Bay Rowdies – Jennings led the Championship with seven goals in seven appearances, averaging a goal every 77.1 minutes, and posted a league-high Goals Added mark of +3.15 in the month.

Romario Williams, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – The Jamaican international scored six goals in five appearances at a strike rate of a goal every 70.2 minutes, and recorded a 54.6 percent shot conversion rate while putting nine shots on target.

Rodrigo Da Costa, Memphis 901 FC – The Brazilian recorded six goals in seven appearances at a strike rate of a goal every 99.7 minutes while also recording 13 chances created and ranking second in the league with a +2.54 Goals Added mark.

Albert Dikwa, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC – The Championship’s Golden Boot leader scored five goals in four appearances for the Hounds at a strike rate of a goal every 67.4 minutes while posting a shot conversion rate of 41.7 percent.

Daniel Ríos, Las Vegas Lights FC – The El Salvador international recorded two goals and three assists in five appearances, averaging a goal contribution every 67.2 minutes, while posting a +1.31 Goals Added mark for the month.
