Key penalty saves and standout stops highlighted the past week’s action, who gets your vote?

A pair of outstanding penalty saves and two superb stops from close range off set pieces highlighted the past week of goalkeeping action in the USL Championship as each stop became more important in the battle for a playoff berth. Here are our selections as nominees for the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week, now it’s up to you to vote for the winner here on the web, on the league social media feeds, and in the USL App.

Voting runs through Friday, September 22 at 12 p.m. ET.

USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 28

Andrew Thomas (NM) - #NMvIND, 9/15/23: Thomas anticipated well and made a diving save to keep out a penalty kick by Indy Eleven’s Sebastian Guenzatti that sparked New Mexico’s comeback for a 3-2 victory at Isotopes Park.

Hugo Fauroux (LDN) - #LDNvCHS, 9/16/23: Fauroux produced a brilliant stoppage-time save to deny his former club all three points, parrying a header by the Charleston Battery’s Leland Archer over the crossbar at Segra Field.

Benny Díaz (ELP) - #SACvELP, 9/16/23: Díaz made a brilliant penalty kick save to keep out Sacramento Republic FC’s Sebastian Herrera with a diving stop to his right at Heart Health Park, part of a four-save performance on the road.

Leo Díaz (LV) - #MBvLV, 9/16/23: Díaz made a spectacular point-blank stop to keep out a powerful header by Monterey Bay F.C.’s Alex Lara from the top of the six-yard area at Cardinale Stadium.
