COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Monday the club had acquired defender Isaiah Foster on loan from FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season.
“I had such a great time with the Switchbacks last season. The fans were great and all the guys were very supportive,” said Foster. “When I was asked to come back after the end of my season, I was honored and I am happy to be back to play a part in the Switchbacks playoff push!”
After his transfer to FC Cincinnati from the Switchbacks FC last offseason, Foster started in 24 matches on loan for MLS NEXT Pro side FC Cincinnati II this season. Foster has a passing accuracy rate of 82.2% and has recorded 38 interceptions.
“Delighted to have Isaiah back for the remainder of the season! His energy and balance on the left side will help us continue to be aggressive on both flanks,” said Switchbacks Head Coach and GM Stephen Hogan. “A fantastic young man who has developed here and at FC Cincinnati over the last two years. One of our own is coming back.”
Foster was a consistent player for the Switchbacks in his first season of professional play in 2022, earning 16 starts over 25 games played, and notching just over 1,500 minutes. He had 32 clearances and won 30 of 39 tackles while holding a passing accuracy rate of 77.9 percent.
Foster will be eligible to play for the Switchbacks should the club reach the USL Championship Playoffs if he appears in each of the club’s five remaining regular season contests, starting this Saturday night against Sacramento Republic FC.
