Orange County acquires Eric Lopez via transfer from Austin FC II

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday the club had acquired goalkeeper Eric Lopez via transfer from Austin FC II of MLS NEXT Pro. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, and the transaction is pending league and federation approval.

A California native, López brings extensive experience in the USL Championship to Orange County. He joined the professional ranks with the LA Galaxy II as what was then the youngest professional signing in the leagues history prior to the 2015 season aged 15 years, 8 months and made his debut against Orange County SC during the 2016 season.

López went on to make 35 appearances across the next three seasons before being signed to an MLS contract by the LA Galaxy for the 2020 campaign and remained present for Los Dos on loan in the following three seasons. In 2022 he made a career-high 21 appearances for the side in the USL Championship, recording five shutouts and 68 saves.

Overall, López has made 65 appearances in the USL Championship during his career, recording 224 saves, eight shutouts and a save percentage of 62.7 percent. Internationally, Lopez competed for every age group in the United States youth national team program to the U-18 level, making 14 appearances across four age groups.
