USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – August

A busy month of action produced some outstanding performances across the league, who gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for August, honoring five of the top performers throughout the past month of the 2023 season as they take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, September 11 at 12 p.m. ET.

  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.

  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, September 14.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – August 2023

Neco Brett, Birmingham Legion FC – The Jamaican forward recorded six goals in six appearances over the month, averaging a goal every 85.6 minutes, and posted seven chances created while recording the third regular season hat trick of his career in the USL Championship.

Danny Trejo, Phoenix Rising FC – Trejo moved into a tie for the league-lead with five goals in five appearances with a strike rate of a goal every 88.6 minutes, and also notched two assists while ending the month with a +1.81 Goals Added mark.

Joaquin Rivas, Miami FC – The El Salvador international scored five goals at a strike rate of a goal every 67.8 minutes, scoring the first professional hat trick of his career, while also completing 99 of 114 passes (86.8% accuracy) and posting an overall Goals Added mark of +1.30.

Solomon Asante, Indy Eleven – The two-time USL Championship MVP led the league with five assists in five appearances as the Boys in Blue went undefeated through the month, while also completing 129 of 147 passes and recording a +1.12 Goals Added mark.

Jordan Farr, San Antonio FC – The 2022 Championship Goalkeeper of the Year posted a goals-prevented mark of -1.72 while allowing only two goals and recording four shutouts in six appearances. Farr’s Goals Added mark of +2.11 led all goalkeepers in August.
