USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 26

Scrambling stops and brilliant reflexes were on show in the past week of action, who gets your vote?

The pressure of the playoff races in both the USL Championship’s Eastern and Western Conferences produced some outstanding goalkeeping performances in Week 26 of the regular season, including some outstanding denials to add to the highlight reel. Here are the stops we’ve selected as nominees for the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week, and it’s up to you to vote for the winner here on the web, on the league social media feeds, and in the USL App.

Voting runs through Friday, September 8 at 12 p.m. ET.

USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 26

Carlos Saldana (SAC) - #OAKvSAC, 9/2/23: Voted to the Team of the Week for his six-save shutout in Oakland, Saldana’s incredible sprawling stop to keep out Roots SC’s Lindo Mfeka was the pick of bunch at Pioneer Stadium.

Rocco Rios Novo (PHX) - #PHXvRGV, 9/2/23: The young Argentine quickly shifted to reach to a wicked deflection on a shot by Rio Grande Valley FC’s Christian Pinzon to help earn a six-save shutout on home turf.

Leo Diaz (LV) - #LVvOC, 9/2/23: The Argentine showed off his reflexes with a superb one-handed stop to tip a header from close range by Orange County SC’s Milan Iloski over the crossbar at Cashman Field, one of six saves he made on the night.

Michael Nelson (TUL) - #TULvSA, 9/3/23: Nelson got across quickly to parry a long-range strike by San Antonio’s Rida Zouhir onto the right post and then recovered to smother the rebound in Tulsa’s crucial home victory.
