Last Wednesday night proved a perfect confluence of events for Solomon Asante.

For one night, the lone player to win consecutive USL Championship Most Valuable Player awards stood alone in two different categories in the league’s regular season history.

Three nights later, teammate Aodhan Quinn joined him in reaching one of those same landmarks, capping what could prove to be a crucial week for the Boys in Blue as they pursue a return to the USL Championship Playoffs.

INDY’S SOLOMON ASANTE RECORDS LANDMARK NIGHT

Indy Eleven’s Solomon Asante recorded two league firsts, and impressive milestones, in his USL Championship career last Wednesday night as he recorded a three-assist game in Indy’s 4-0 victory against Birmingham Legion FC.

- Asante’s three-assist game was his third in the USL Championship’s regular season. He became the first player in league history to record a trio of three-assist games, with only Emmanuel Ledesma and Jose Barril the others to have achieved the feat twice.

- Asante became the third player to surpass 50 regular-season assists in the league’s history and moved into second place all-time entering Week 24 of the campaign with 52 helpers overall.

- Asante became the first player in the Championship’s history to record 50 goals and 50 assists in the Championship’s regular season history. He is now tied for fourth in the Championship in combined goals and assists with 103 in his career (51 goals, 52 assists).

INDY’S AODHAN QUINN REACHES 50-50 MILESTONE

Not to be outdone, Indy Eleven’s Aodhan Quinn became the fourth player to reach 50 regular season assists in the USL Championship’s history on Saturday night as he provided the helper on Adrian Diz Pe’s game-winner against Miami FC.

In turn, Quinn joined teammate Solomon Asante in becoming the second player to record 50 regular season goals and 50 regular season assists in the USL Championship. The league’s all-time leader in minutes has recorded 53 goals and 50 assists, placing him alongside Asante, Corey Hertzog and Hadji Barry in a tie for fourth in combined goals and assists in league history.

PHOENIX RISING FC’S DANNY TREJO NOTCHES HISTORIC NIGHT

Phoenix Rising FC’s Danny Trejo became the first player in the USL Championship’s regular season to record two goals and two assists in a single game on multiple occasions on Saturday night in Rising FC’s 5-0 victory against El Paso Locomotive FC. The 25-year-old had previously accomplished the feat last season for Las Vegas Lights FC in a 5-4 victory against El Paso Locomotive FC.

Trejo’s performance marked only the 16th time since the start of the 2014 regular season that a player had recorded at least two goals and two assists in a single game. It was the second instance this season following Tani Oluwaseyi, who recorded three goals and two assists in his side’s 7-0 victory against the Charleston Battery on May 13.

CHARLESTON BATTERY IMPRESS WITH ROAD FORM

The Charleston Battery took a win and a draw on the road against Louisville City FC and Detroit City FC in Week 23 of the regular season, moving the side to seven road wins and a league-high 25 road points (7-2-4) this campaign. Charleston has four away games remaining this season, which will offer the side a chance to reach the top five in league history for road points in a regular season campaign.

The current record – which is already beyond reach for the Battery – was set by the Championship-title winning New York Red Bulls II side in 2016 when it earned 41 road points with a 13-1-2 record on the road.

- The Charleston Battery’s next victory will be the 50 regular-season win in Head Coach Ben Pirmann’s career in the USL Championship. Pirmann currently has 49 wins in 94 regular season games across his time at Memphis 901 FC and the Battery.

- Louisville City FC’s Cameron Lancaster moved into a tie for second in all-time regular season goals in the USL Championship with his goal against the Charleston Battery last Wednesday night. Lancaster’s 79 goals are level with 2021 Championship MVP Hadji Barry.

To become the youngest player to appear in a USL Championship game, he would need to make his debut this season to surpass the current mark of Real Monarchs SLC’s Axel Kei, who was 13 years, 9 months, 9 days old when he made his league debut as a USL Academy signing against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on October 8, 2021.

Rio Grande Valley FC’s Wahab Ackwei has been suspended for one game following his red card for violent conduct against Louisville City FC on August 12. Ackwei will be unavailable for selection in Rio Grande Valley’s contest against San Antonio FC on Wednesday night.

New Mexico United Head Coach Eric Quill has been suspended for one game following his red card for two cautions against San Antonio FC on August 12. Quill will serve his suspension during New Mexico’s contest against San Diego Loyal SC on Saturday night.

Monterey Bay F.C.’s James Murphy has been suspended for one game for caution accumulation following his eighth yellow card of the season against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on August 12. Murphy will be unavailable for selection in Monterey Bay’s contest against San Antonio FC on Saturday night.
