ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Wednesday the club had acquired forward Shanyder Borgelin on loan from Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season.

Borgelin will be available for selection in New Mexico’s contest against San Diego Loyal SC on Saturday night (9:30 p.m. ET | ESPN2).

The 21-year-old is in his fourth professional season, having joined the pro ranks with the Philadelphia Union II in the 2019 USL Championship season. Borgelin recorded one goal in 25 appearances for the Union II before joining Inter Miami CF II last year, where he recorded 14 goals in 23 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro.

This past offseason he was signed to IMCF’s MLS squad, and scored two goals across all competitions, including a key late equalizer in regulation the side’s victory in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Miami FC.

“I love to work hard,” said Borgelin. “I’m a learner who is always willing to work hard and give it all for my team. I’m ready to compete and fight to score goals, so that I can represent the people of New Mexico in the best way possible. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity.”

Borgelin is a native of Margate, Florida and has represented the Haitian National Team at the youth and senior levels. He has made three senior appearances overall for Les Grenadiers, having made his debut in 2021.
