One of the best rivalries in the USL Championship renews on Wednesday night as San Antonio FC plays host to Rio Grande Valley FC in the South Texas Derby on ESPN2. Elsewhere, Orange County SC will try to add to a four-game winning streak in the first of two big interconference games this week as it hosts Eastern Conference leader Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.

Here's a look ahead at all the action.

San Antonio FC vs. Rio Grande Valley FC

Venue: Toyota Field
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN2

The Lowdown: San Antonio FC will try to move into first place in the Western Conference as it plays host to Rio Grande Valley FC in the first South Texas Derby of the season, and the 25th overall in the series between the two clubs that date to the 2016 campaign. SAFC (12-4-7, 43pts) moved within two points of Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory against New Mexico United that saw Rida Zouhir score twice and Santiago Patiño find the net in his return to the lineup after re-signing with San Antonio last week after a stint in Brazil. The hosts have won three consecutive games and have held the upper hand in recent seasons against the Toros, going undefeated in their last seven meetings overall. RGV FC (6-7-10, 28pts) heads north coming off a 2-2 draw with Louisville City FC on Saturday night that left the side four points out of the final playoff place in the West, but the side will be hoping it can go one better than its last visit to San Antonio last August when it held a two-goal halftime lead through goals from Christian Pinzon and Akeem Ward before SAFC rallied with Mitchell Taintor scoring a stoppage-time equalizer for his side. With both sides having claimed a win and draw against El Paso Locomotive FC previously this season, Wednesday night’s game could also prove decisive in this year’s edition of the Copa Tejas, where each side sits on four points going into this meeting.

Spotlight Players
San Antonio FC – Jorge Hernandez:
The attacking playmaker is second in the Championship with seven assists this season and could be a key influence in the final third for the hosts as they look to jump past Sacramento.

Rio Grande Valley FC – Taylor Davila: A former teammate of Hernandez at the LA Galaxy II, Davila has been a creative force for the Toros this season with five goals, three assists and 49 chances created, ranking third in the league in the latter category.

Orange County SC vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

Venue: Championship Soccer Stadium
Kickoff: 10 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+

The Lowdown: Orange County SC returns to action looking to add to its longest winning streak of the season as it plays host to current Players’ Shield leader Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. OCSC (10-9-4, 34pts) claimed a fourth consecutive victory in its last outing on August 5 as Thomas Amang scored twice in a 3-1 victory against San Diego Loyal SC at Torero Stadium. Korede Osundina also found the net for the visitors, who have now won seven of their last eight games overall to move within range of the top three in the West going into Wednesday’s contest. The club’s current run saw Head Coach Morten Karlsen earn the Championship’s Coach of the Month award for July, an honor that had previously been claimed this season by Pittsburgh Head Coach Bob Lilley, who claimed his 100th win at the helm of the Hounds this past Saturday in a 2-0 victory against Hartford Athletic at Highmark Stadium through goals by Albert Dikwa and Juan Carlos Obregon Jr. The Hounds (13-4-8, 47pts) remained four points ahead of the Charleston Battery with their win, and now sit with a Magic Number of 10 as they look for a sixth consecutive postseason berth under Lilley.

Spotlight Players
Orange County SC – Milan Iloski:
The club’s attacking leader with 10 goals and four assists this campaign, Iloski scored a late equalizer at Highmark Stadium a season ago when these teams last met and will be looking to add to his tally for this season.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC – Arturo Ordonez: The Spanish center back has helped the Hounds record consecutive shutouts in its past two wins and has also proven a threat in set piece situations at the attacking end.
