USL Championship Player of the Month Nominees – July

High-scoring forwards and playmakers made the difference in the past month, who gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Konami eFootball for July, honoring five of the top performers throughout the fifth month of the 2023 season as they take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, August 7 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, August 10.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – July 2023

Tani Oluwaseyi, San Antonio FC – The 23-year-old recorded eight goals and two assists across the month, notching one hat trick and one four-goal game, as he averaged a goal every 53.8 minutes while recording 27 shots and 11 chances created for a +3.25 goals added mark.

Cal Jennings, Tampa Bay Rowdies – Jennings recorded four goals at a strike rate of a goal every 75 minutes for the Rowdies while recording 10 shots overall as he posted a team-high +1.86 goals added mark over the month.

Phillip Goodrum, FC Tulsa – Goodrum recorded three goals and one assist while recording 14 shots and eight chances created as he helped Tulsa record a five-game winning streak while ranking second among outfield players in the league over the month with a +2.71 goals added mark.

Alex Tambakis, New Mexico United – The Greek shot-stopper recorded a goals-against average of 0.60 on the month with three shutouts and 18 saves for a save percentage of 85.7 percent while leading all goalkeepers with a +3.52 goals added mark for the month.

Jorge Hernandez, San Antonio FC – The 22-year-old led the Championship with four assists in the month on 12 chances created and also notched a pair of goals for six goal contributions in five appearances as he ranked fourth among outfield players with a +2.11 goals added mark.
