TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa announced on Tuesday the club had acquired full back Patrick Seagrist via transfer from fellow USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The terms of the transfer will remain undisclosed, per club policy, and the transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Seagrist joins Tulsa having previously made 85 appearances across the regular season and playoffs in the USL Championship. The 25-year-old joined Colorado Springs this offseason and has recorded three assists and 16 chances created in 21 appearances for the Switchbacks so far this campaign, while also posting a 57.9% dribble success rate. Defensively, Seagrist has won 69 percent of his tackles and averaged 4.07 interceptions per 90 minutes.

“I'm very excited to meet the guys, the staff, and help contribute to a playoff team,” said Seagrist. “It is a great feeling to be somewhere where I am valued and able to contribute to the culture and style of play. My personal expectations are to contribute on the attacking side with more assists and a few goals, and I expect these guys to want to win a championship. The people we have are more than capable of doing so with the right mentality and togetherness.”

A native of Barrington, Ill., Seagrist was selected with the No. 10 pick of the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls, where he made three appearances in his rookie season in the top flight. After being traded to Inter Miami CF the following offseason, he joined the USL Championship’s Indy Eleven on loan for the 2021 season and made 29 appearances for the side, recording 15 chances created.

A season ago, Seagrist joined Memphis 901 FC where he had a breakout campaign with one goal and four assists in 35 appearances across the regular season and playoffs, helping 901 FC finish second in the Eastern Conference regular season standings. While at Memphis he was teammates with forward Phillip Goodrum, with whom he is now reunited in Tulsa.

“It is great to be playing with one of my closest friends and teammates again,” said Seagrist when asked about playing alongside Goodrum in Tulsa. “We had a great season together last year, both individually and collectively, and we hold ourselves to the high standard of replicating that success once again here in Tulsa.”
