AODHAN QUINN MOVES INTO ALL-TIME MINUTES LEAD IN USL CHAMPIONSHIP

Indy Eleven’s Aodhan Quinn became the USL Championship’s all-time leader in regular season minutes on Saturday night as he played the full 90 minutes against the Tampa Bay Rowdies to move to 20,096 minutes in his career. Quinn and his predecessor in holding the record, Taylor Mueller, were joined by three other players in surpassing 20,000 minutes on Saturday night, with New Mexico United’s Josh Suggs, Monterey Bay F.C.’s Hugh Roberts and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s Kenardo Forbes also achieving the landmark.

Quinn set the record in his 242nd regular season appearance in the USL Championship, which places him tied for seventh in the league’s history. He has played 92.3 percent of available minutes in those appearances, an average of 83 minutes per appearance over his 10-season career.

The 31-year-old has recorded at least 2,200 minutes in a season on five occasions, and twice played every minute of a regular season, both for Orange County SC in 2018 and 2020. Additionally, he is one of seven players to have recorded a combined 100 goals and assists in the Championship for his career, currently sitting with 51 goals and 49 assists.

MIAMI FC ENDS SAN ANTONIO FC’S HOME UNDEFEATED STREAK

Miami FC claimed a 1-0 victory against San Antonio FC on Saturday night at Toyota Field to end the club’s 24-game home regular season undefeated streak. San Antonio’s run was the sixth-longest in the Championship’s history, and the longest since Indy Eleven’s 28-game home undefeated streak between July 4, 2018 and August 1, 2020.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC is now the lone remaining side yet to be defeated at home this season (7-0-3), with the club’s 11-game home undefeated streak – which began on October 15, 2022 against Oakland Roots SC after a defeat at home to San Antonio FC in its prior contest at Highmark Stadium – currently the longest active streak in the league.

NEW MEXICO UNITED’S ALEX TAMBAKIS MOVES SECOND IN SHUTOUTS

New Mexico United’s Alex Tambakis moved into sole possession of second place in USL Championship regular season shutouts on Saturday night as he recorded the 44th of his career with a four-save performance in United’s 3-0 victory against Sacramento Republic FC.

Tambakis broke a tie with 2015 USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year Brandon Miller, and now ranks second all-time in the Championship in both shutouts and saves (514), trailing Evan Newton in both categories. The 30-year-old reached the mark in his 182nd regular season appearance in the league, which places him only seven appearances behind Newton (189) for the most appearances by a goalkeeper in the USL Championship’s history. Tambakis (16,367) also ranks second to Newton (16,876) for the most minutes played by a goalkeeper in the USL Championship’s history, a difference of 509 minutes.

CHARLESTON’S BARAJAS, BIRMINGHAM’S CORCORAN JOIN NOTABLE YOUNG GROUP

The Charleston Battery’s Fidel Barajas and Birmingham Legion FC’s Matthew Corcoran became just the seventh and eighth players in the USL Championship’s history to record a two-assist game in the league’s regular season before turning 18 years old on Saturday night. Barajas’ two assists helped the Battery to a 3-1 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, while Corcoran’s fueled a 2-1 comeback victory for Legion FC against Louisville City FC.

Former Tacoma Defiance forward Alec Diaz remains the youngest player to have recorded multiple assists in a USL Championship regular season game, having notched two assists aged 16 years, 310 days old in a 4-1 victory against FC Tulsa on October 13, 2018. Barajas (17 years, 108 days) enters at No. 4 on the overall list, while Corcoran (17 years, 155 days) enters at No. 6.
