Two teams in positive runs of form will clash for the first time in Oklahoma since 2020 as FC Tulsa plays host to Rio Grande Valley FC on Friday night with Tulsa looking to continue its drive up the Eastern Conference standings in an interconference clash that sees the Toros on their longest undefeated streak since their inaugural season.

Here's a look ahead at the action.

FC Tulsa vs. Rio Grande Valley FC

Venue: ONEOK Field
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+ / SiriusXM FC

The Lowdown: FC Tulsa will look for a fifth consecutive victory as it faces a Rio Grande Valley FC side that is undefeated in its past seven outings for an interconference clash to kick off the weekend’s action. Tulsa (6-7-7, 25pts) claimed its fourth win on the spin last Saturday night as Phillip Goodrum scored twice, including a stoppage-time winner, to earn a 3-2 victory against Hartford Athletic. The win built a five-point gap to Loudoun United FC below the playoff line, while marking the longest winning streak for the club since the 2021 season when it won five consecutive games on the way to a place in the postseason. Goodrum’s brace moved him to six goals this season, tied for the team-lead with Marcus Epps, who himself has scored three goals in the past four games. The Toros (5-5-9, 24pts) have also seen their fortunes turn for the better of late, however, and played to a 1-1 draw with El Paso Locomotive FC last Saturday night as they narrowly missed out on another victory during their current run of form. Wilmer Cabrera Jr. scored his sixth goal of the season to put RGV FC ahead in the first half and has also scored three goals in the past four games for the side to move into the team lead. If the Toros are to jump above the playoff line on Friday night, however, they’ll have to end Tulsa’s five-game winning streak in the series, which included a 2-1 defeat when the sides late played at ONEOK Field on Sept. 2, 2020 when both teams were part of the Western Conference.

Spotlight Players
FC Tulsa – Moses Dyer:
The New Zealand forward has provided balance in the Tulsa front line alongside Goodrum and Epps, sitting with a team-leading four assists as well as four goals this season.

Rio Grande Valley FC – Christian Pinzon: The Mexican forward has recorded 10 shots in six appearances since his return to the Toros’ lineup with one goal and one assist in that span while putting himself in good positions, and will look to sharpen his finishing in this clash.
