New Mexico acquires Jacobo Reyes on loan from C.F. Monterrey

22-year-old midfielder has made 16 appearances in the youth national team ranks for the United States and Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Friday the club had acquired midfielder Jacobo Reyes on loan from Liga MX’s C.F. Monterrey for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Reyes brings experience from both the United States and Mexico youth national team programs, while since joining the professional ranks with Monterrey in 2020 after competing collegiately at the University of Portland, he has made a combined 142 appearances across the club’s First Team in Liga MX, Raya 2 of Liga de Expansion MX, and CF Monterrey U-20.  

“Jacobo is a dynamic player with high-level international experience, as well as top flight experience in Mexico,” said United Head Coach Eric Quill. “He will bring a terrific energy, drive, and talent to our club, and make us stronger as we fight for a title.”

Reyes has made 16 international appearances for the U.S. and Mexico and met United Head Coach Eric Quill in camp with the U-19 U.S. Men’s National Team. The 22-year-old has logged more than 10,000 minutes for Monterrey across its three levels. A native of Harris, Texas, Reyes is eligible to represent both the United States and Mexico at the international level.
