Two teams vying for a top-four finish in the USL Championship’s Western Conference will kick off the weekend’s action on Friday night as Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC plays host to San Diego Loyal SC with the teams separated by a point after each claiming victory last time out.

Here's a look ahead at the action.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC vs. San Diego Loyal SC

Venue: Weidner Field
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+ / SiriusXM FC

The Lowdown: Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC will try to build on a four-game home winning streak when it plays host to San Diego Loyal SC in the first meeting between the sides this season. The Switchbacks (9-9-1, 28pts) romped to a 4-0 victory against Monterey Bay F.C. on July 4 in their most recent outing as Steven Echevarria recorded the first two-goal game of his career in addition to Juan Tejada and Romario Williams both finding the net. The win moved the Switchbacks into fourth place in the Western Conference, with the side having outscored opponents 12-0 since its last home defeat on June 2. SD Loyal (7-5-6, 27pts) will try to end that run after picking up its third road win of the season last Saturday night in a 2-0 victory at Hartford Athletic. Evan Conway scored both goals while Tumi Moshobane provided both assists as San Diego broke a six-game winless run, and now the side will hope to end its four-game road trip on a positive note with a chance to jump past its hosts. Moshobane scored in both games when the sides met last season as SD Loyal won both meetings, and with both teams featuring quality attacking talent this may end up another highly entertaining clash.

Spotlight Players
Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – Romario Williams:
The Jamaican’s penalty kick against Monterey Bay was his 49th regular season goal in the Championship for his career, giving Williams a chance at a major milestone this time out.

San Diego Loyal SC – Evan Conway: Conway’s two goals in Hartford saw him move to eight goals this season, and after scoring the game-winner when San Diego last visited Weidner Field last July he’s a player the hosts will need to watch closely.
