LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC announced on Thursday that defender Jordan Scarlett is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season after undergoing successful surgery this week to repair cartilage in his left knee.

The 27-year-old played three games for LouCity this season before he had to shut down. It’s a first for a center back that has proven durable throughout his career, logging 12,199 USL Championship minutes in 154 appearances entering the year.

“This has been a difficult time for me knowing that I’ll miss a season of football,” Scarlett said. “But this setback is part of my marathon, and now it’s all focus on recovery and being my best self to continue my journey next year.”

A former standout for New York Red Bulls II and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Scarlett – born in Jamaica before being raised in New York City – received his first senior team international call-up for Jamaica last year.

“Jordan has been a fantastic addition to our group,” said LouCity Head Coach Danny Cruz. “He started the year for us playing at a very high level and unfortunately sustained a difficult injury. While we will miss him the remainder of the season, I am confident with his work rate and mentality he will be back as soon as he possible could be.”
