INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Friday the club had acquired midfielder Sebastian Velasquez via transfer from fellow USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed. Velasquez will be available for selection when Indy faces Hartford Athletic on Saturday night.

Velasquez signed with Memphis this past February and made one appearance for the club prior to his move. The 32-year-old has made 106 appearances in the USL Championship overall in his career, and at Indy is reunited with Head Coach Mark Lowry, for whom he played two seasons at El Paso Locomotive FC before Lowry departed to join the Boys in Blue prior to the 2022 campaign.

A native of Medellín, Colombia, Velasquez starred for Real Monarchs SLC in the 2017 season when he helped the side claim the Players’ Shield with the best record in the regular season with nine goals and six assists in 27 appearances to earn USL Championship All-League First Team honors. Overall in his career, Velasquez has notched 27 goals and 18 assists in the USL Championship across the regular season and playoffs.

Velasquez’s professional career began after being selected in the 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake, where he played three seasons with the club before joining New York City FC for the 2015 campaign. He has recorded 55 MLS appearances while notching two goals and five assists in the top flight across the regular season and playoffs.
