Detroit City FC will look to continue its recent rise in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference standings on Wednesday night when it visits current conference leader the Charleston Battery and former Head Coach Ben Pirmann, with the hosts looking to rebound from a setback last Friday night.

Here's a look ahead at the action.

The Lowdown: The Charleston Battery will try to add to their lead at the top of the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference after suffering defeat last time out as they play host to Detroit City FC for the first meeting between the clubs this season. The Battery (7-3-3, 24pts) are looking to bounce back from a 4-0 defeat to Indy Eleven last Friday night that hinged on a red card to Charleston center back Leland Archer after just 19 seconds that left the side down a man for the remainder of the game. The hosts battled valiantly for 70 minutes before Indy pulled away for victory, but the Battery will now be without the Trinidad and Tobago international as they face a DCFC side that has built momentum in recent weeks. Le Rouge (3-7-2, 11pts) moved within range of the top eight in the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 win in their most recent outing against Birmingham Legion FC on May 27 as Maxi Rodriguez scored the only goal of the game at Keyworth Stadium. Detroit has now won consecutive league games for the first time this season and could see its new reinforcements in forward Dario Suarez and defender Brett Levis make their debuts on Wednesday after being acquired via transfer from FC Tulsa this week. After sweeping the season series a year ago – including a 3-0 victory at Patriots Point – Detroit will be hoping for a victory to move into the playoff positions at the end of the night.

Spotlight Players
Charleston Battery – Deklan Wynne:
The New Zealander made the move from Detroit to Charleston this offseason and has been a solid contributor for the Battery, winning 11 of 12 tackles while making 19 clearances and seven interceptions.

Detroit City FC – Michael Bryant: The experienced defender has put together a good campaign so far individually, leading the team with 29 interceptions, and he could have an important role to play against the Battery’s strong attack.
