DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Tuesday the club had acquired forward Dario Suarez and defender Brett Levis via transfer from fellow USL Championship club FC Tulsa. In a corresponding transaction, the club transferred midfielder Tommy McCabe to FC Tulsa for an undisclosed fee.

Suarez will be a familiar name to longtime fans of Detroit City FC. A native of Cuba, the 30-year-old has faced off against Le Rouge as far back as the club’s days in the National Premier Soccer League with AFC Ann Arbor. Since then, Suarez has made USL Championship appearances for Miami FC and FC Tulsa.

Suarez joined FC Tulsa in December 2019 and has made just under 100 appearances. 2022 saw Suarez record nine goals and five assists in 31 appearances, while this season he has notched a pair of goals in five starts. Suarez departs FC Tulsa as the club’s second-leading all-time goalscorer.

Levis arrives in Detroit with experience both in Major League Soccer and in the USL Championship and Canadian Premier League. The 30-year-old had made eight appearances so far for Tulsa this season, completing 81 percent of his pass attempts and creating four chances.

Previously Levis has had stints at Valour FC in the Canadian Premier League where he played for three seasons. A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Levis began his senior career with Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS. Levis spent 2013-2020 in the Whitecaps’ system, competing in the USL Championship for WFC2 before signing an MLS deal with the club that saw him make 24 appearances in the top flight.
