SAN ANTONIO – Spurs Sports & Entertainment announced on Thursday that Tim Holt has decided to depart San Antonio FC, after serving as the organization’s Managing Director since January of 2016. During his tenure in San Antonio, Holt has been instrumental in turning SAFC into one of the most successful clubs in the United Soccer League ecosystem.

“It’s impossible to overstate Tim Holt’s impact on SAFC and across San Antonio’s soccer community,” said SS&E CEO RC Buford. “We are beyond grateful for his efforts, vision and contributions. As a values-based leader, Tim inspires all of us with his knowledge and approach.”

San Antonio was awarded a USL Championship franchise in January of 2016 and Holt was the organization’s second hire. SAFC has currently made three consecutive trips to the USL Championship Playoffs. The club captured five trophies over the course of the 2022 season, including the 2022 USL Championship title, defeating Louisville City FC 3-1 in the Championship Final in front of 8,534 fans at Toyota Field on November 13, 2022.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with SAFC, which made this a very difficult decision,” said Holt. “Our fans, our players, our coaches, our staff and our community have all contributed to making SAFC a truly special soccer club. From day one in San Antonio, I received tremendous support from SS&E leadership and being part of the organization will forever be a career highlight. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished to date and am confident that the organization will continue to thrive in the future.”

Holt’s last day in a full-time role will be on June 5. However, he has agreed to serve as a strategic advisor for SAFC through the end of the 2023 season, helping the club through the transition period.
