COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Friday the club had acquired forward Jonas Fjeldberg via transfer from Indy Eleven. In a corresponding move, the Switchbacks transferred defender Macauley King to Indy Eleven. Per club policy, the details of the transactions have not been made public.

“[Jonas’] character checked every box for our locker room and once we knew there was a real chance to make this happen, we jumped at the opportunity to sign,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Stephen Hogan. “His attacking qualities and energy is what we noticed last year, and we have been scouting him ever since he tore us apart at home last season. His work ethic towards working hard for the group will be noticed right away and we can't wait to see him progress in our style.”

Fjeldberg joined Indy Eleven before the 2022 season and midway through the season went on loan to Rio Grande Valley FC, where he had previously competed in the 2021 campaign. The 24-year-old helped the Toros reach the postseason for a second consecutive season, recording six goals and one assist in 12 appearances.

The Norwegian native was drafted in 2021 in the MLS SuperDraft to FC Cincinnati, before being loaned out to Rio Grande Valley FC that August. Overall, Fjeldberg has recorded 11 goals and two assists in 39 appearances in the USL Championship in his career.

Collegiately, Fjeldberg played at the University of Dayton for four seasons, notching 22 goals and 21 assists in his 61 appearances. While there, Fjeldberg earned accolades including being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in 2017, Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year and A-10 First Team in both 2019 and 2020, as well as United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Midwest Region in 2020.

“I'm excited to get going in Colorado,” said Fjeldberg. “I've played in the Switchbacks’ stadium many times and I can't wait to play in front of the incredible fans.”
