COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced on Tuesday the club had acquired Jamaican midfielder Tyreek Magee for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Magee arrives in Colorado Springs having most recently competed for Belgian club KAS Eupen, where he made five appearances and logged 88 minutes in the Jupiler Pro League, Belgium’s top flight. The 23-year-old has made nine appearances for the Jamaican senior men’s national team, including in the most recent edition of FIFA World Cup Qualifying

“I'm excited to be in Colorado Springs with the Switchbacks this season,” said Magee. “I'm excited to use my qualities to help make the team better.”

Magee joins a strong contingent of Jamaican talent already in Colorado Springs including forwards Romario Williams, Maalique Foster and Deshane Beckford and midfielder Speedy Williams. Prior to making the move to KAS Eupen to join the club’s U-19 squad in 2019, Magee played for Harbor View FC in the Jamaican Premier League.

“[Tyreek] is a young player who has played at the top level in Belgium,” said Switchbacks Head Coach Stephen Hogan. “He is coming back to the States to hopefully make a statement! His work ethic and ambition for his career got us interested in him. He is a very creative player with great vision and awareness. I'm excited to see him progress here and contribute to our success.”
