USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 8

A superb penalty save and one-handed stops of long-range efforts feature this week, who gets your vote?

A pair of result-preserving stops on long-range shots destined for the top corner, and another superb penalty save by one of the league’s new faces lit up the past weekend of action among the USL Championship’s goalkeepers. They’re among the denials we’ve selected as nominees for the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week. Now it’s up to you to vote for the winner here on the web, on the league social media feeds, and in the USL App.

Voting runs through Friday, May 5 at 12 p.m. ET.

USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 8

Nathan Steinwascher (DET) - #DETvTBR, 4/29/23: The local product continued his stellar season with another brilliant save at close range to deny the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ Charlie Dennis at Keyworth Stadium.

Michael Nelson (TUL) - #TULvSAC, 4/29/23: Nelson made an excellent one-handed stop to preserve a point for the hosts at ONEOK Field as he kept out a well-struck free kick by Sacramento Republic FC’s Russell Cicerone.

Leo Diaz (LV) - #SAvLV, 4/29/23: The Argentine stopped his second penalty kick of the season with a diving save to keep out San Antonio FC’s Jorge Hernandez as he shot the left corner from the spot at Toyota Field.

Paul Blanchette (OAK) - #OAKvMIA, 4/29/23: Blanchette earned a second consecutive nominations with a fingertip save to keep out Miami FC’s Dennis Dowouna, part of a three-save shutout for the veteran at Pioneer Stadium.
