SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Saturday the club had transferred forward Erik Hurtado to D.C. United of Major League Soccer. Per team policy, terms of the transfer were not disclosed.

Hurtado signed a 25-day contract with San Antonio on April 12 and made two appearances for the side, both as a substitute, in its most recent league outings against Louisville City FC and Phoenix Rising FC. The 32-year-old recorded four shots and one shot on target for SAFC.

“We are getting an experienced MLS forward in Erik who will add important depth for us up top,” said Dave Kasper, D.C. United President of Soccer Operations. “Erik is a great competitor who takes no plays off and we look forward to integrating him with our group.”

Prior to joining San Antonio, Hurtado had played 10 seasons in MLS after initially being selected fifth overall by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Hurtado scored his first goal in the top flight on May 10, 2014 in a 1-0 win against Columbus Crew SC, which began a run of goals in four consecutive games.

In six seasons with Vancouver, Hurtado scored 17 goals and recorded 14 assists in 127 games across all competitions. He subsequently went on to play for Sporting Kansas City, Club de Foot Montreal and Columbus before joining San Antonio this month.
