San Antonio acquires Rida Zouhir on loan from Montreal

19-year-old midfielder has made 12 appearances in MLS since joining club as Homegrown signing


San Antonio FC has acquired 19-year-old midfielder Rida Zouhir on loan from Club de Foot Montreal of Major League Soccer.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Tuesday the club had acquired midfielder Rida Zouhir on loan from Club de Foot Montreal of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending receipt of Zouhir’s P-1 Visa, and league and federation approval.

Zouhir has appeared in five of Montreal’s eight MLS matches this season, starting one, and racking up 218 minutes. The 19-year-old Montreal academy product made his MLS debut in 2021 and has made 12 appearances for the side. This season he has posted a passing accuracy rate of 82.6 percent.

The 19-year-old midfielder signed as a Homegrown Player with Montreal having previously joined the club’s academy system in 2016. Zouhir has made four appearances for Canada’s U-20 Men’s National Team and competed for the side at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

In 2021, Zouhir was one of three Montreal players to go on a training stint with sister club Bologna of Serie A alongside Djordje Mihailovic and Ismael Kone.
