A rematch of the 2022 USL Championship Final highlights a busy 11-game slate of action to wrap up Week 6 of the regular season on Saturday night, with New Mexico United’s home opener and another intriguing playoff rematch also set to feature prominently.

Here’s a look ahead at all the action.

Loudoun United FC vs. Birmingham Legion FC

Venue: Segra Field
Kickoff: 6 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: LDN 28%, BHM 46%, Draw 26%

The Lowdown: Loudoun United FC and Birmingham Legion FC will each try to return to the win column as they square off at Segra Field with Legion FC hoping to regain top spot in the Eastern Conference with a victory. Birmingham (3-1-1, 10pts) fell for the first time this season last Sunday evening in a 2-1 defeat against Phoenix Rising FC at Protective Stadium. A second-half goal by Gabriel Alves – his second of the season – pulled Phoenix level in a frenetic second half by the hosts were unable to rally for a second time late after Phoenix regained the lead. The loss combined with the Charleston Battery’s midweek victory saw Legion FC drop into second place in the East, but the visitors will be hopeful of a bounce-back performance against Loudoun, against which it is undefeated in the last four meetings. United (1-2-1, 4pts) returns to action after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Segra Field in its most recent league outing on April 1, but the side did pick up a victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup four days later with Wesley Leggett scoring the extra time winner in a 2-1 victory against USL League One’s North Carolina FC. Saturday’s game will mark the first since this week’s announcement of new additions to Loudoun’s ownership group – including professional athletes Yannick Ngakoue (NFL), Tommy Pham (MLB), and Jeff Teague (NBA) – and the hosts will be aiming to put in a strong display as they look for their first win against Birmingham since the 2019 season.

Spotlight Players
Loudoun United FC – Abdoul Zanne:
The 20-year-old winger has two assists in all competitions for the side after helping guide the group through its Open Cup debut and now will hope to notch his first goal of the season.

Birmingham Legion FC – Neco Brett: The Jamaican forward has three goals this season to lead Legion FC and should provide a serious challenge to Loudoun’s back line as he pursues the landmark of 75 regular season goals in his career.

FC Tulsa vs. Charleston Battery

Venue: ONEOK Field
Kickoff: 6 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: TUL 41%, CHS 33%, Draw 26%

The Lowdown: The Charleston Battery will try to continue their undefeated start to the season as they complete a two-game road trip with a visit to FC Tulsa as the hosts return home after a heartbreaking defeat last time out. Tulsa (1-2-3, 6pts) saw its winless streak reach three games last Saturday afternoon as an own goal in stoppage time saw the side fall 2-1 against San Diego Loyal SC at Torero Stadium. Tulsa is undefeated on its home turf this season, however, with a win and two draws at ONEOK Field, and still sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Battery (3-0-2, 11pts) arrive in Tulsa after claiming a dramatic victory in stoppage time, meanwhile, as Augustine Williams bagged the winner in a 2-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium on Wednesday night. Williams scored both goals for the Battery as the side moved into first place in the Eastern Conference, and the Sierra Leone international has now scored four goals in the past three league games and in four consecutive games across all competitions. After falling 2-1 in their last visit to ONEOK Field a season ago, the Battery will be hoping to maintain their undefeated start under new Head Coach Ben Pirmann, who on Wednesday was voted the Championship’s Coach of the Month for March.

Spotlight Players
FC Tulsa – Blaine Ferri:
The central midfielder has notched one goal and one assist so far this season and will want to put in a strong two-way performance to help his side jump back into the win column on home turf.

Charleston Battery – Arturo Rodriguez: The attacking midfielder has a goal and assist in the past two games for the Battery coming off the bench as a substitute and could be in line for his first start for the club on Saturday.

Miami FC vs. Detroit City FC

Venue: Riccardo Silva Stadium
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: MIA 52%, DET 19%, Draw 29%

The Lowdown: Miami FC and Detroit City FC will both try to boost their recent fortunes as they square off with the hosts looking for their first league win of the season against a Detroit side that has lost three consecutive league games. Miami (0-2-3, 3pts) fell for a second time this season last Saturday night in a 2-0 setback against in-state rival the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium. The side has struggled for goals so far this campaign with only Paco Craig, Kyle Murphy and Florian Valot having found the net in league action, something Head Coach Anthony Pulis will need to try and solve quickly. Detroit (1-4-0, 3pts) has had similar challenges in front of net with Le Rouge having been held scoreless in four of its five league games this campaign, including a 1-0 defeat to Louisville City FC at Lynn Family Stadium last season. Goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher has continued to impress, and currently leads the Championship with 20 saves, but the visitors will need to find a spark as they try to reverse a 1-0 setback when these sides last met in 2022 when Miami’s Joaquin Rivas scored the only goal of the game.

Spotlight Players
Miami FC – Joaquin Rivas:
The El Salvador international has bagged one assist this season but needs to start contributing more in the final third with only three chances created and no goals so far this campaign.

Detroit City FC – Maxi Rodriguez: Detroit City’s talisman has been his usual industrious self so far this campaign and will need to lift his teammates in a tough midfield battle against Miami’s Bolu Akinyode.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC vs. Rio Grande Valley FC

Venue: Highmark Stadium
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: PIT 48%, RGV 23%, Draw 29%

The Lowdown: Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will look for its first home win of the season as it plays host to Rio Grande Valley FC as the Toros return to action after picking up their first victory of the campaign last time out. The Hounds (1-1-3, 6pts) suffered a 1-0 defeat last Saturday night as they visited Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC despite a saved penalty by Jahmali Waite that kept the side in the game until the hosts found the winner with 10 minutes to go. Pittsburgh will feel the lasting effect of that contest as it returns home, however, with defender Arturo Ordonez and midfielder Robbie Mertz both suspended after receiving red cards against the Switchbacks. Pittsburgh played to a 1-1 draw in its home opener on March 24 as Burke Fahling scored a late equalizer for the side, and the Hounds will be hoping to turn the tables from their last meeting with RGVFC that saw the Toros earn a 1-0 result last season at H-E-B Park thanks to a goal by Ricky Ruiz. Rio Grande Valley (1-0-3, 6pts) is one of four currently undefeated teams in the Western Conference and took a 1-0 victory against Detroit City FC in its most recent outing as midfielder Taylor Davila scored the only goal at Keyworth Stadium. Davila has been one of the key additions so far for the visitors, with his partnership in midfield with former United States international Jose Francisco Torres helping the Toros to a solid start to the campaign.

Spotlight Players
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC – Patrick Hogan:
The Hounds’ offseason arrival has impressed so far this campaign and will need to play a big role on the back line with Ordonez’s absence against a bright Toros attack.

Rio Grande Valley FC – Wilmer Cabrera Jr.: The 22-year-old forward has produced solid all-around displays leading the line for the Toros this season but has yet to find the net in four appearances.

Louisville City FC vs. San Antonio FC

Venue: Lynn Family Stadium
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: LOU 47%, SA 25%, Draw 28%

The Lowdown: Louisville City FC and San Antonio FC will square off for the first time since the 2022 USL Championship Final last November as the hosts look to hand the defending Championship title holders their first loss of the season as San Antonio heads to Kentucky for the first time. San Antonio (3-0-2, 11pts) claimed a 3-1 victory in the Championship Final a season ago as Santiago Patiño scored twice, and while the Colombian forward has moved on, SAFC remains a formidable contender. Last Saturday night the side played to a 0-0 draw with Sacramento Republic FC at Toyota Field, extending its undefeated streak to 16 games in the Championship’s regular season and playoffs, while goalkeeper Jordan Farr earned the Championship’s Player of the Month award for March on Thursday after his stellar start to the campaign. LouCity (3-2-0, 9pts) took victory in its last outing as a late goal by Wilson Harris lifted the side to a 1-0 win against Detroit City FC at Lynn Family Stadium, giving Harris his first goal of the season. The hosts also got a stellar defensive display from 17-year-old standout Joshua Wynder, who on Wednesday was named to the United States Men’s National Team for the first time in his career for next week’s international exhibition against Mexico in Arizona. After last year’s loss, Wynder and his teammates will be aiming to flip the script and find a way through SAFC’s impressive defensive unit.

Spotlight Players
Louisville City FC – Brian Ownby:
The veteran winger scored LouCity’s goal in San Antonio last November and has made a good start to this season with one goal and two assists as the hosts look for a big home victory.

San Antonio FC – Connor Maloney: The versatile veteran slotted in as part of SAFC’s three-man back line last weekend in the absence of Mitchell Taintor, but wherever he lines up you can expect a strong display that will challenge LouCity’s attacking group.

Memphis 901 FC vs. Las Vegas Lights FC

Venue: AutoZone Park
Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: MEM 58%, LV 17%, Draw 25%

The Lowdown: Memphis 901 FC and Las Vegas Lights FC return to action with both clubs looking for a first league win of the season while coming off victories in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in their most recent outings. Memphis (0-2-1, 1pt) earned its first point of the league season last time out as it earned a 1-1 draw against Miami FC at Riccardo Silva Stadium as former United States Men’s National Team goalkeeper Bill Hamid made his debut for the club. 901 FC then went on to earn a 2-1 win against USL League One club One Knoxville SC in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as Jeremy Kelly scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time in extra time to send the side through to a visit to Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer in the next round. Lights FC (0-0-3, 3pts) claimed a more comfortable victory in its Open Cup outing as Las Vegas native Azriel Gonzalez scored his first two goals for the club in a 4-0 win against the LA Force, with the win setting up a clash with Real Salt Lake at Cashman Field next week that will mark the first time the club will face an MLS club in official competition. Lights FC has drawn each of its first three games of the season as it continues a six-game road trip to start the league campaign, with Erick “Cubo” Torres having found the net twice in all competitions. After Memphis took a 1-0 victory – and custody of the Elvis Presley statuette representing the King’s Cup Derby – when the teams met in Las Vegas last season, the hosts will be hoping to leave their visitors all shook up this time around.

Spotlight Players
Memphis 901 FC – Jeremy Kelly:
The midfielder scored the winner when the sides met last season and after grabbing a goal in the Open Cup last time out will be aiming to deliver another game-changing performance.

Las Vegas Lights FC – Zach Carroll: The veteran center back made the move to Las Vegas after three seasons in Memphis this offseason and will look to keep his former teammates under wraps in familiar surroundings.

New Mexico United vs. San Diego Loyal SC

Venue: Isotopes Park
Kickoff: 9 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: NM 39%, SD 34%, Draw 27%

The Lowdown: New Mexico United will host its league home opener against San Diego Loyal SC looking to rebound from consecutive defeats on the road against an SD Loyal side that is eyeing top spot in the Western Conference. San Diego (3-1-1, 10pts) maintained its perfect home record in the Championship this season last Saturday afternoon as a stoppage-time own goal lifted the side to a 2-1 victory against FC Tulsa at Torero Stadium. Evan Conway scored his second goal of the season, moving him into tie for the club lead with Ronaldo Damus, to open the scoring as SD Loyal moved within a point of first place behind Sacramento Republic FC and San Antonio FC. New Mexico (1-2-0, 3pts) fell for a second consecutive outing, meanwhile, despite Chris Wehan scoring his 50th regular season goal in the league in a 4-2 defeat at Monterey Bay F.C. last Saturday. The hosts will be hoping a return to Isotopes Park will spark a change in fortune with a large crowd expected for United’s fifth home opener as it looks to even its record early this campaign.

Spotlight Players
New Mexico United – Amando Moreno:
The El Salvador international scored twice when these teams met last in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Torero Stadium and has found the net once so far this campaign.

San Diego Loyal SC – Charlie Adams: The veteran midfielder has notched two assists in three appearances so far this season, including a brilliant delivery to set up Conway’s goal against Tulsa last time out.

Oakland Roots SC vs. Hartford Athletic

Venue: Pioneer Field
Kickoff: 10 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: OAK 55%, HFD 21%, Draw 24%

The Lowdown: Oakland Roots SC will try to continue its current winning streak as it returns home to host Hartford Athletic, which heads west still looking for its first league win of the season. Oakland (2-1-1, 7pts) earned a second consecutive victory last Saturday night as Dariusz Formella notched a goal and assist in a 3-0 win against Indy Eleven that also saw Lindo Mfeka and Edgardo Rito find the net at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The hosts moved up to sixth place in the Western Conference with the win and will be aiming to replicate a similar result to their 3-1 victory against Hartford when the teams met for the first time last season at Trinity Health Stadium. The Athletic (0-3-2, 2pts), meanwhile, will be hoping for a turnaround in fortunes after a deflating 3-2 defeat at the Charleston Battery last Saturday night that saw the side concede deep in stoppage time to fall to its third loss of the season. Hartford has shown strong attacking qualities at times this season but needs to tighten up a defense that has conceded 11 times in five games so far this season.

Spotlight Players
Oakland Roots SC – Joseph Nane:
The veteran midfielder notched his first assist of the season in Indy, part of a strong all-around display that he’ll be aiming to replicate to keep Oakland’s positive current momentum.

Hartford Athletic – Niall Logue: The center back has notched a pair of assists and has recorded 26 clearances so far this season while trying to hold down the back line for the Athletic.

Orange County SC vs. Indy Eleven

Venue: Championship Soccer Stadium
Kickoff: 10 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: OC 59%, IND 17%, Draw 24%

The Lowdown: Orange County SC will go in pursuit of its first league win of the season as it plays host to an Indy Eleven side coming off its first loss of the campaign last weekend as it heads west for the first time this season. Indy (1-1-2, 5pts) suffered a 3-0 defeat to Oakland Roots SC last Saturday night at Michael A. Carroll as the visitors held the Boys in Blue in check in the attacking third while striking decisively either side of halftime. Indy recorded six shots on target but was held scoreless for the second consecutive league outing as Oakland goalkeeper Paul Blanchette came through with a stellar display. Indy claimed victory when these teams first met last season, rallying from an early deficit to take a 3-1 victory at Carroll Stadium as former player Stefano Pinho scored the game-winning goal, and a similar result would continue the slow start for Orange County (0-2-3, 3pts) with the hosts yet to record a shutout this season. OCSC fell 1-0 against El Paso Locomotive FC last Saturday night despite some big chances – including Milan Iloski seeing a first-half chance cleared off the line – to remain in 11th place in the Western Conference. With three of its next four games on home turf, Head Coach Richard Chaplow’s side will be hoping for greater success and a move up the standings.

Spotlight Players
Orange County SC – Kevin Partida:
The central midfielder has been one of the more consistent performers this season for the hosts as he faces an Indy side he spent time on loan with during the 2021 season.

Indy Eleven – Aodhan Quinn: A Championship MVP finalist during his time at Orange County, the veteran midfielder will try to conjure a big display to lead the visitors to a bounce-back victory on the road.

Phoenix Rising FC vs. Monterey Bay F.C.

Venue: Phoenix Rising Stadium
Kickoff: 10:30 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: PHX 65%, MB 14%, Draw 21%

The Lowdown: Phoenix Rising FC and Monterey Bay F.C. will both look to build on victories last time out as they square off for the first time this season. Rising FC (1-1-2, 5pts) returns home after claiming its first victory of the season last Sunday evening as Carlos Harvey scored the winner in a 2-1 victory at the previously undefeated Birmingham Legion FC. The victory continued the progression of the side under Head Coach Juan Guerra, with its performances having grown throughout the early season after a slow start to the campaign. Danny Trejo also found the net in Birmingham for his second goal of the season, and the bright forward will hope for more success against a Monterey Bay side that has also shown impressive attacking moments so far this campaign. MBFC (2-2-1, 7pts) claimed a 4-2 victory last Saturday night at Cardinale Stadium as Christian Volesky had two goals and an assist to claim Championship Player of the Week honors and Sam Gleadle had one goal and two assists to join him on the Team of the Week. Alex Dixon also found the net, moving to a league-leading five goals this season, and the visitors will be hoping to show off a similar potency this time out after the sides played to a 3-3 draw when they last met in the 2022 season.

Spotlight Players
Phoenix Rising FC – Gabriel Torres:
The left-sided wingback has notched two assists so far this season and could play an important two-way role in helping stem the tide of Monterey Bay’s fast-moving attack.

Monterey Bay F.C. – Christian Volesky: The veteran forward had two goals last time out and also found the net twice when these sides met last September in a wild back-and-forth contest.

Sacramento Republic FC vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

Venue: Heart Health Park
Kickoff: 11 p.m. ET
Broadcast: ESPN+
538.com Predictor: SAC 46%, COS 25%, Draw 29%

The Lowdown: Two of the top four teams in the Western Conference will square off for the first time since last year’s playoffs when Sacramento Republic FC tries to continue its undefeated start to the season against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Republic FC (3-0-2, 11pts) maintained its undefeated record last Saturday night as it played to a 0-0 draw at San Antonio FC that saw Danny Vitiello record a three-save shutout at Toyota Field. The result kept Sacramento in first place in the Western Conference going into the weekend, and the hosts will be hoping to reverse the 2-1 defeat they suffered when they visited the Switchbacks in the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs last October that eliminated Republic FC from postseason contention. Colorado Springs (3-1-1, 10pts) claimed victory in extra time on that occasion, and the side is on a two-game winning streak after a 1-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Weidner Field last Saturday night. Romario Williams scored the only goal of the game for the side, giving the Jamaican goals in consecutive games, and the visitors will be hoping to claim victory to potentially jump into first place by the end of Saturday night in this encounter.

Spotlight Players
Sacramento Republic FC – Damia Viader:
The left-sided wingback has made a bright start to the season without reward so far and his potential matchup with the Switchbacks’ Deshane Beckford could be crucial as to which side comes out on top.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – Drew Skundrich: The veteran returns to Heart Health Park to face the side he made 46 league appearances for across two seasons in what should be a compelling midfield battle.
