San Antonio adds veteran Erik Hurtado on 25-day contract

Former Columbus Crew SC forward has made 154 appearances in Major League Soccer in career


San Antonio FC has signed veteran forward Erik Hurtado to a 25-day contract ahead of the club's contest this weekend with Louisville City FC.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced on Wednesday the club had signed veteran forward Erik Hurtado to a 25-day contract, pending league and federation approval. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are happy to welcome Erik to the Team. He is a proven MLS attacker with significant game experience,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “Erik is a powerful and explosive vertical player, with a proven ability to score goals, and has displayed throughout his career the commitment to pressing actions. He is motivated to learn and adapt to our team identity as quickly as possible”

Hurtado joins San Antonio having previously played 11 seasons in Major League Soccer, most recently for Columbus Crew SC in the 2022 season. The 32-year-old has made 154 appearances in the top flight, and recorded 22 goals and 11 assists, including three goals with the Crew last year.

Prior to turning pro, Hurtado played for four seasons with Santa Clara University, earning West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior.
