ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United announced on Monday the club had signed Albuquerque native Milo Garvanian for the 2023 USL Championship season.
The versatile defender/midfielder joins United following his graduation from the University of North Carolina. Garvanian played five seasons for the Tar Heels during which he recorded 10 goals and 11 assists in 86 appearances.
This past fall, Garvanian was voted to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Third Team, while also earning All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team honors as he started in all 19 games for the Tar Heels while recording four goals and four assists in his final season.
The 23-year-old was previously selected with the No. 54 pick of the 2023 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Club de Foot Montreal, but did not sign with the club. In addition to competing for UNC, Garvanian also competed in USL League Two, last season making three appearances for Tennessee SC.
