Veteran earns honor after strong display in El Salvador’s clash with United States in Orlando

Oakland Roots SC defender Bryan Tamacas has been named to the Concacaf Nations League A Best XI for March's window of contests.

Oakland Roots SC’s Bryan Tamacas was named on Thursday as part of the Concacaf Nations League A Best XI for the March window of games, with the full back’s defensive display in La Selecta’s 1-0 defeat to the United States at Exploria Stadium earning the veteran a place alongside USL Championship and League One alumni Auston Trusty and Ricardo Pepi.

Tamacas – who joined Oakland this offseason and made his debut for the club on March 19 against Rio Grande Valley FC at H-E-B Park – recorded one steal and six clearances for El Salvador against the United States while also completing 27 of 29 passes, a 93 percent accuracy rate.

The 28-year-old has been a longtime part of the El Salvador side. He was ever-present in the final stage of FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifying, and made three appearances in the country’s four CNL contests to help it earn an automatic berth in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup this summer. Tamacas could next be in action on Saturday night when Oakland returns to the field against New Mexico United.
