PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Friday the club had acquired forward Jackson Conway on loan from Major League Soccer club Atlanta United FC. Rising FC holds an option to acquire Conway via transfer as part of the agreement, which is pending league and federation approval.

“Jackson is a young striker with a lot of experience and goals in our league,” said Rising FC Head Coach Juan Guerra. “His physicality and movement inside the box make him a threat to any team. His ability to combine, link up with the midfield and hold the ball higher up the field makes him a great addition to our game model.”

After featuring for Atlanta United’s U-16 Academy side in 2017, Conway joined then-USL Championship club Atlanta United 2 as a USL Academy signing in 2018 before signing his first professional contract with the side ahead of the 2019 season. Conway has scored 23 goals in 74 appearances overall in the USL Championship, and last season had a breakout campaign with 11 goals and one assist in 25 appearances. He was voted the Championship Player of the Week after recording his first professional hat trick against the Charleston Battery in Week 3 of the season.

Conway signed as a Homegrown Player with Atlanta United FC ahead of the 2021 Major League Soccer season and recorded one goal in 13 regular-season appearances for the side in the top flight. The 21-year-old started in Atlanta’s season-opener this campaign against the San Jose Earthquakes on February 26.

“I wanted to get consistent games,” said Conway. “Thankfully Juan reached out to me not too long ago. He seemed very interested in pulling me into the team. He took me through his philosophy and how he wants things to work. I was really intrigued so I would say Juan was a big reason I came to Phoenix.

“My goals are to score as much as possible, play well and gain experience that will help me in the long term. I’m excited to be here. The atmosphere was good when I was here last year with Atlanta. The new stadium site should only amplify that energy. I am excited to play in front of the fans.”
