SEASIDE, Calif. – Monterey Bay F.C. announced on Friday the club had agreed to terms with Jesús “Chuy” Enríquez on a one-year contract for the 2023 USL Championship season. Enríquez will be available for selection when Monterey Bay hosts Louisville City FC on Saturday night at Cardinale Stadium (10 p.m. ET | ESPN+)

“Chuy has got a bit of experience in the league already. I thought he had a good 2021 season with Oakland, he had a few goals and assists and was productive there,” said Monterey Bay F.C. Sporting Director and Head Coach Frank Yallop. “They had a great run to make the Western Conference Semifinals and he was a big part of that. I had been chatting to him for a while through a couple of our players that knew him from RGV and Oakland. Now he’s come in and has fit in easily here. I think he will be a good addition to our attacking group.”

A native of Redwood City, Calif., Enríquez joins Monterey Bay after spending the past two seasons with fellow USL Championship club Oakland Roots SC. The 25-year-old recorded four goals and four assists in 44 appearances for Roots SC, including goals in each of the club’s final two games of the 2021 regular season as Oakland earned a place in the USL Championship Playoffs.

“First of all, I want to thank the team and their staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to represent this club,” said Enríquez. “I’m really excited to be here and will do my best to help this club achieve big things. I have been here for a couple weeks now and the players and everyone around have made me feel at home. The team started with a great win last weekend, and we will keep that going and take things step by step. My personal goal is to help the team make the playoffs and go for it all. We have a great group of guys that have what it takes to make it happen. I can’t wait to get started.”

Enriquez’s professional path began in Mexico with Club Tijuana’s youth academy in 2016. Two years later, he signed his first professional contract with Championship side Rio Grande Valley FC and recorded 10 goals and nine assists in 61 appearances over two seasons with the Toros. Enriquez has recorded 117 appearances in the Championship across the regular season and playoffs, notching 14 goals and 14 assists, and has also previously played for San Antonio FC and Reno 1868 FC.
